Tuesday now, and the Diesel Gala is over. At the shed, rather tatty looking Battle of Britain Class 34070 "Manston" is receiving some attention. 34070 "Manston" was built by the Southern Railway at Brighton Works in 1947, numbered 21C170. It was the last locomotive to be built by the Southern Railway before the railways were nationalised, and British Railways came into being. Withdrawn in 1964.
