26. John (O) was stationed at St Athan during his National Service. This is the railway line that passes St Athan, taken from the main road that runs from Barry to Llantwit Major. The only reason I show you this is because the next two photos were taken from this spot, and should allow John to get his bearings! St Athan is still a very large MOD site, with this road running through the middle of it. I obviously couldn't walk up to the front gate to take a photo as I'd probably have been shot as a spy, and in any case, it has probably altered beyond all recognition in the 150 years since John O was there.
