5428 "Eric Treacy", seen crossing the level crossing at Grosmont Station, is an LMS Class 5 locomotive built at Newcastle in 1937. This class was designed by Sir William Stanier, and were known as "Stanier Black Fives". It was withdrawn in 1967. It was named "Eric Treacy" after preservation, in honour of the late Eric Treacy, Bishop of Wakefield, who was an eminent railway photographer. |
