The Welsh Highland Heritage Railway at Porthmadog. For many years this 3/4 mile section was the only bit of the old Welsh Highland Railway to be preserved, but when the ambitious plan to rebuild the whole length of the Welsh Highland Railway - including the on-street running to connect with the Ffestiniog Railway - was put into action, the people running this railway refused to "join the party". Now that the Welsh Highland Railway is once more running right through from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, this railway, now known as the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, is still operating independently from the main Welsh Highland Railway. |
